Avec leur dernier album Sortilèges, sorti en édition vinyle chez Young & Cold records, Potochkine réinvente l’EBM sur la noirceur incandescente des cendres techno, synthpunk et cold wave.
La scène se transforme sous leurs pieds en un lieu presque sacré qui mènent les corps à la danse, à la transe.

The stage is transformed under their feet into an almost sacred place that leads the bodies to dance, to trance.

The music of the two musicians is like playing with opposites. Basically, one might like to pin down the word minimal as a genre, but even if it were so, the duo convinces one directly of the opposite. Massive, sophisticated landscapes of synths that have an incredible structural depth. At the same time, the sound carries an irrepressible energy that is very difficult to escape. Once ignited and arrived in the auditory canal of the listener, the sound ignites a veritable inferno of fireworks and emotions around the listener. Goosebumps, reveries and an almost irrepressible urge to move to the music are only a minimal fraction of what emanates from this music. Synths that caress your skin like a warm summer breeze to become a full-blown tropical storm in a short time.
But to the musical part comes an equally important component. The incredible vocals, which include a repertoire from icy cold and gruff to hot and soft. This voice can do anything. Really everything. Finally, we could write whole books about Sortilèges and POTOCHKINE. What they trigger, how they sound and even more. But Sortilèges doesn’t want to be described at all, it wants to be explored and enjoyed. "Le cap du troisième album est souvent délicat, voire périlleux pour un artiste ou un groupe. ce cap est franchi toutes voiles dehors par le gang toulonnais qui poursuit sa montée en puissance.
"Sortilèges" propose ainsi huit chapitres constituant un véritable grimoire d'où chacun tirera sa propre potion. On baigne à fond dans tout ce que le post-punk a généré comme courants musicaux. Comme le premier single, "Pogo", quasi instrumental si l'on excepte quelques miaulements de Polly.
Les titres forts s'enchaînent, on pense aux "Chevaux" qui finissent au grand galop, mais surtout à "Possédée", exceptionnelle pépite aussi sombre qu'incandescente.
